Le pape François a promu samedi Christoph Graf commandant de la Garde pontificale suisse. Ce Lucernois assurait déjà l'intérim à la tête de cette force militaire depuis la destitution de Daniel Rudolf Anrig annoncée le 3 décembre.

Christoph Graf est entré il y a 27 ans dans la Garde suisse comme simple hallebardier. Il a la réputation d'être un homme plus débonnaire que son prédécesseur jugé trop sévère avec ses subordonnés.

Le St-Gallois Daniel Rudolf Anrig avait quitté ses fonctions le 31 janvier. La Garde suisse compte 110 hommes. Ils sont chargés de veiller à la sécurité du pape et du Vatican.
