Roberto Mancini (photo Keystone), entraîneur du Zenit Saint Petersbourg, a accepté de devenir le prochain sélectionneur de l’Italie, qui ne participera pas au Mondial en Russie, affirme la «Gazzetta dello Sport». Selon le quotidien sportif, Mancini, 53 ans, a donné son accord et il signera, dimanche après la fin du championnat de Russie, un contrat de deux ans avec à la clé un salaire de 2 millions d’euros (2,4 millions de francs) par an. A un match de la fin de la saison, le Zenit est cinquième du championnat de Russie, à dix points du Lokomotiv Moscou, déjà assuré du titre. L’ex-international italien a rejoint le club russe l’an dernier pour trois ans et 4,5 millions d’euros par an. Le Zenit, toujours selon la «Gazzetta», ne souhaite pas voir partir Mancini et la fédération italienne (FIGC) n’a pas l’intention de le dédommager. ats
