Les piétons prioritaires sont très vulnérables sur les passages signalisés et ce n’est pas la priorité ni les lois qui peuvent redonner une vie perdue! En cas d’accident, ils risquent de graves blessures, voire leur vie, si l’automobiliste n’arrête pas son véhicule à temps!
La vie est ce que nous avons de plus important, protégeons-la; il faut rétablir le dialogue entre les usagers de la route en exigeant un signe clair de la main et contact visuel avec le/la conducteur/conductrice.
En exigeant des piétons la prudence élémentaire, on agit directement sur le comportement des piétons/conducteurs/conductrices, seul élément ayant une influence sur les accidents.
En traversant la route, les piétons sont sans protection devant certains automobilistes pressés, distraits, éblouis, malades, sous influence de médicaments, drogues, alcools et qui ne respectent pas les règles de la circulation routière.
Dans notre société, nous recherchons la perfection dans tout ce que nous faisons, or, on ne peut ignorer la réalité; nous ne sommes pas parfaits ni physiquement ni dans nos actions. D’après ce constat, il est clair que pour diminuer voire supprimer les accidents et le nombre de victimes sur un passage piétons, il faut modifier les règles.
Aussi, agissons en conséquence, et réduisons les risques pour les usagers de nos routes en prenant les mesures ci-dessous:
- maintenir la priorité des piétons;
- réintroduire le signe de la main/contacte visuel;
- améliorer l’éclairage et la signalisation;
- punition pour les contrevenants.
La sécurité dépend des usagers avant tout et de l’attention qu’ils portent les uns aux autres.
